Here at Pine Trees we care about our community and we teach our children to care. Encouraging the children to be involved and respect their community is an integral part to growing children with a healthy attitude to others around them.

Local Community

Being in the heart of such a thriving community such as Prestwick means our children have an array of opportunities to get involved on their doorstep. The children love nothing more than heading out to meet the locals whether that be to shop, visit the library or even head out on a bug hunt to the local park. We teach the children how to care for their community through litter drives, carol singing at the local nursing home or simply supporting local butchers and bakers. We encourage the children to “pass it on” and ask their parents to support local helping them to understand their place in the community and encourage numeracy and literacy skills through a simple family task.

We support many of the local and National charities and hold various fundraisers throughout the year. Currently we work very closely with “West FM Cash for Kids”, South Ayrshire Foodbank, Children in Need and this year we have chosen to make Whiteleys Retreat, a respite home for children and their families.

The world around us….

Previously we have been very privileged to have a special friendship with the Londolozi Nursery based in the Kruger National Park in South Africa. This came about after a special family visit to the reserve. Since then we have built a special relationship with the Nursery staff and children and hold regular Skype sessions to share our learning journeys. Our children have so far really enjoyed this experience and has opened their minds to life outside of Ayrshire. This year we are going to be working with a new Nursery based in Malawi to continue our wider world journey. Over the last few years we have held a variety of fundraising events including fetes, tea dances, sponsored bounce, cheese and wine
We are also pleased to announce that we are the new sponsors of Glenburn Girls Football Team and the Primary 5 Ayr Rugby Football team, supporting our local community and encouraging young people to engage in sport at a young age. It is an honour to be part of such exciting teams and as ever it supports our ethos of “Growing Healthy Happy Children”.

We are now also a community defibrillator point after the children raised over £1000 towards a Nursery Defibrillator. Our staff are in the process of receiving training and this is a great addition for the local community.
